I am passionate about historical clothing with extensive experience in educating students in all Key Stages. In the past, I have developed resources in relation to the PSHCE curriculum and been responsible for delivering them to individual classes in East and West Sussex Schools. I am now a qualified Costumier, experienced in working in Theatres and Film. Through comprehensive historical research, I design and construct costume including undergarments and hats to ensure my audience experiences the best possible exposure to a period in history. I have developed a range of activities, workshops and lectures for children, young people and adults at a variety of venues including Museums and Heritage sites.
My love of clothing and history go back to my childhood; my first job was in the clothing industry working in design, theatre and knitwear. This passion was re-kindled when my youngest son went to primary school where I became a very valuable asset, designing and making costumes for School Productions. I also went on to create and deliver an after School Club teaching children to sew. I am currently a volunteer at the Costume & Fancy Dress Store, Chequer Mead Theatre, East Grinstead.
